info

Hive is a glueless flatpack interlocking stool exemplifies modern, eco-friendly furniture design, combining simplicity and functionality with sustainability. Constructed from durable sawed wood, this stool features a clever interlocking mechanism that allows it to be assembled without the need for screws, nails, or adhesives.

about

Flatpack furniture is designed to be produced in separate parts that can be assembled without special tools. This approach makes it affordable, space efficient, and easy to transport or dismantle when moving. The flatpack format of Hive reduces packaging waste and shipping volume, making it a more sustainable option.

process

The stools design was inspired by the honeycomb structure of a beehive. Honeycombs consist of densely packed hexagonal cells, known for their efficiency and strength. Drawing from this natural principle, Hive uses a similar hexagonal system where hollow cells form the base, giving it both stability and a distinct aesthetic.

results

The stool was constructed from hand-sawed plywood panels with an interlocking system, eliminating the need for screws or glue. Precision-cut grooves allowed the parts to slot seamlessly together, resulting in a lightweight yet durable piece. The final design combines sustainability, biomimicry, and a minimalist look that fits into different interior styles.
